Charlie’s Café owner Jeanie Moore has a cafe that is like no other. Her chef has been culinary school trained and takes great pride in all that he creates. All their food from hand cut rib-eye steaks, thick-sliced ham, linguica, fresh cooked breakfast potatoes, to award winning biscuits & gravy, malted waffles, pancakes, burgers, hot & cold sandwiches, fresh grilled chicken, homemade soups and fresh salads, are prepared daily so every ingredient is of the highest quality. The coffee is freshly ground and they serve local wine and ice cold beer. So come by and say "Hi" to Charlie and hang out where the locals like to come.

With the first restaurant opening at this site back in the 1920’s, the slogan on the front window of the Old Town Café says it all "Oldest continuous restaurant in Grass Valley”. Their menu features traditional cafe fare like eggs, hotcakes, biscuits and gravy at breakfast; burgers, sandwiches, shakes and salads for lunch. The Old Town Café is also known for its friendly, small-town atmosphere and their high level of service. Over the last 10 years, George & Suzie have bought several restaurants, some they've kept, some they've sold, but one concept is here to stay, South Pine Café. Their idea was to create a restaurant that would appeal to any type of clientele, from the biscuit and gravy connoisseur to the vegan, and anyone in between; the result is an eclectic array of specialty items that attract a very diverse mix of diners. With 10 years of testing, adjusting, changing, tweaking and perfecting, they've built two thriving South Pine Café locations in Grass Valley and Nevada City.

Marshall's Pasties is not your typical Deli, they only serve true Cornish pasties at their counter. You can get your order to go or to take upstairs to their seating area. Marshall’s Pasties are prepared and rolled by hand, seasoned deliciously and baked in their own kitchen. Marshall’s today, like the Cornish Women of old, pride themselves in the preparation and serving of this savory food just as they did to the miners long ago.
